Introducing Rejuvenate: Why PDRN is now an active ingredient in our product offering.
A Science That Dates Back to the 1970s
While PDRN is not new to the skin care industry, it now can be synthesized from natural sources and produced in quantities to meet the needs of the skin care industry.
As skincare becomes more molecular active, the refinement of PDRN is very interesting. PDRN is a member of the polynucleotide family. PDRN stimulate skins fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin, which provides skin strength, firmness and elasticity. So, you can see there is science behind all the noise.
Looking Beyond the PDRN Trend
I’ve spent all my career looking at ingredients that come with science-based facts. What can these ingredients realistically do and will the customer see a difference in their skin.
PDRN is allowed in certain countries to be used in injectables. It is not authorized by Health Canada in Canada or the FDA in the US. We can use PDRN in topical applications during and after microneedling and laser resurfacing. The concept here is that the PDRN will perform better after the microchannels are created.
Understanding How PDRN Works
As the synthesis of PDRN becomes better and we can produce smaller kDn size PDRN for improved skin epidermal penetration. The earlier PDRN had a larger kDn size and was best used for barrier function improvement.
This is what we at Optaderm have been waiting for. A non-animal source of PDRN that can be manipulated to a small kDn size. It took from the discovery of PDRN in 1970’s to 2025 for this to happen.
Why PDRN + Peptides?
We did not want Rejuvenate to be a one-ingredient story.
Optaderm Treatment are not one-ingredient wonders. We review how actives work with each other to improve the complicated relationship between skin’s cellular communication, renewal process, and barrier function.
With Rejuvenate, PDRN, a polynucleotide, is combined with a peptide to provide fibroblast stimulation through different pathways for collagen production. Using the 2 different pathways in a gentler signaling could be interpreted better for sensitive skin.
Where Rejuvenate Fits the Optaderm Treatment collection.
People who have known Optaderm for a long time know that we don’t tend to think about skincare as a collection of miracle products.
Our work with peptides, saccharides, ceramides, retinoids, hyaluronic acids, nucleotides, exosomes, glycolic acids, vitamins and other actives reflect our philosophy of care through pH balanced products, science-based treatments, and barrier support moisturizers.
Rejuvenate brings and alternative pathway to fibroblast rejuvenation.
